This just happened: SSA Scam Alert
Here is the link to the warning on the Social Security Admin website. https://oig.ssa.gov/newsroom/news-releases/july16-advisory
A robo call tells me it is from SSA and that my social security number is compromised. Here is why I knew it was a scam: Imagine how much money and trouble you'd be saved if someone would just tell you this type of thing. No one ever tells you this for free. The SSA is too busy and is not set up to tell individuals about their social security numbers. There would be no Id theft industry if they alerted everyone.
Everyone should contact their state or commonwealth attorney general office and report the call.
