Private citizens asked to rethink their investments in an edict issued Monday
State begins statewide fact-finding mission
Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb issued an edict outlining the state's support of Ukraine Monday, asking the state office of technology to strengthen the state computer infrastructure systems against potential Russian cyber attacks. He urged private businesses to do the same.
Also in the edict, the governor asks the state commission for higher education to report to his office, all Russian funding received for public colleges and university programs, research projects, and grants.
"Hoosier businesses and companies in Indiana are being encouraged to evaluate their future business relationship with Russia." the electronic edict read.
The fact-finding mission will extend to the state department of administration to review all contracts within state government to determine "whether and to what extent Hoosier tax dollars are being spent on goods and services from Russian owned or Russian-affiliated companies." The state public retirement system is also reviewing contracts and investments to find Russian financial involvement, the edict read.
"The State of Indiana, in keeping with the time-honored traditions and tenets of Hoosier Hospitality, stands ready to support the Ukrainian people affected by the Russian invasion should a federal policy, program or initiative be implemented that requires or includes, for example, access to locations within our great State."
