Obama-Scranton 2008 Democratic Ticket

An Irish Catholic kid from Scranton, raised to believe it's not how many times you get knocked down, it's how quickly you get up--Sen. Joe Biden's self-description

Presidential candidate, Sen. Barack Obama, donned the stage looking like the coolest guy in the world, showing the crowd some love.
He introduced his running mate, Sen. Joe Biden (Del), as a leader who shares his vision of an open government.
"A rare mix of bringing change to Washington D.C.," said Obama of Biden, pointing out that Washington hasn't changed him and that he fights for the middle class.
While retelling Biden's abbreviated life story, he mentioned how Biden's wife and daughter passed away in a tragic crash and his two boys were seriously hurt.
He raised his boys as a single dad and later remarried a teacher named Jill and had a daughter and now has five grandchildren.
(What a story!)
Obama said Biden never moved to Washington and instead took the train home to Delaware to raise his children and care for his family.
He said that Biden, who was sworn in at age 30, had a job once selling cars and cleaning boilers and that he lived with his former in-laws at one point.
He mentioned the domestic violence legislation that Biden introduced that saw the rate in reported cases cut in half and also how he introduced laws for equal pay for women.
I can see how Obama would want this man as his running mate.
"Joe Biden won't just make a good vice-president he'll make a great vice-president. Joe Biden gets it. That's because he is still that scrappy kid from Scranton," Obama said.
Shouts and cheers from hard-core supporters and fans roared "O-ba-ma" and "Yes We Can", pausing Biden's speech once he took the stage.
In all, I think Biden gave a pretty good speech.
He called Obama a "clear-eyed pragmatist," when describing Obama's early days in the U.S. Senate. He said he watched Obama with pride as he fought for mistreated veterans and stood up against entrenched Washington ideas.
Biden, Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, is pro-cop and pro-firefighter and has been standing up for Americans his entire career in the Senate.
"It's our time and it's America's time. God bless America and may He protect out troops," Biden said in closing.
It was a helluva speech.

The vast majority of inhabitants of the Turks and Caicos Islands are black and Protestant Christian, according to Wikipedia.com

The official language of the islands is English and the population also speaks Turks and Caicos Islands Creole[9] which is similar to Bahamian Creole.[10]

The Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI) (pronounced /ˈtɜːks ænd ˈkeɪkəs/) are a British Overseas Territory consisting of two groups of tropical islands in the West Indies, the larger Caicos Islands and the smaller Turks Islands known for tourism and as an offshore financial centre.

They are located southeast of the Bahamas, north of Hispaniola, and 914 kilometres (494 nautical miles) from Miami in the United States. The islands are geographically contiguous to the Bahamas, but are politically a separate entity, an autonomous part of the British Empire.

The islands have a total population of about 30,000, of whom approximately 22,500 live on Providenciales in the Caicos Islands. Cockburn Town, the capital, is situated on Grand Turk Island.
